Hello, my name is Merli.
My passion for crafts started over 10 years ago, when I learned how to knit Haapsalu lace shawl. Since then, I always have a craft project in the works, whether it's knitting, crocheting, embroidery, or some other exciting technique.
In 2021, I graduated from Räpina School of Horticulture with a level 4 qualification in textile crafts. However, I felt that my heart belonged primarily to lace, and I soon found myself back in the classroom. This time, in February 2024, I obtained a professional certificate in lace-making.
During my studies, I was introduced to bobbin lace for the first time and I created my exam project using this technique. Bobbin lace is an old and prestigious lace that has been used in Estonia to embellish traditional folk costumes. However, I wanted to give this beautiful lace a more contemporary expression through jewellery design. This idea led to the creation of the jewellery series "Leaf", where a bobbin lace leaf motif adorns gold or silver-toned necklaces and earrings.
My style is Nordic and minimalist. I am inspired by the patterns of nature, soft color tones, and high-quality natural materials. Regardless of the craft technique, my rule is that the finer the thread and the more time-consuming the project, the more I enjoy my work :)
